Potential Temperature (Symbol Θ)
Potential temperature is widely used in meteorology and climate studies. It helps visualize the stability of the atmosphere much easier than the regular temperature. It is defined as:
where θ is the potential temperature, T is temperature, and κ is the Poisson constant (AMS Glossary).
